On 1 October spectators and pupils enjoyed a spectacular display of girls hockey. All the schools who took part felt honoured to be playing in a Hockey Tournament to celebrate Rugby School's 450th Anniversary. The following schools competed alongside Rugby School for the 450th Anniversary Hockey Cup.
Tudor Hall School
Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf
Rugby XI girls won all their games in the group stages. They beat Fettes (Scotland) 1-0 , Glantaf (Wales) 1-0 and Clifton College 2-1 before defeating Oundle 1-0 in the semi final. They then lost 3-0 to Repton in the final so finishing very creditable runners up. Individual performances of note were Ellie Kennedy, captain, who scored three goals. Lissie Bridges-Webb in D Block who made her debut for the XI and Jika Nyirenda who was the Players Player of the Tournament. Well done to Repton School who won the 450th Anniversary Hockey Tournament and thank you to all the schools who participated.
