Step 1: Fill in the form

At the preliminary visit/Open Day parents are given forms to complete should they decide to make a firm application. Before this application can be accepted, the Head Teacher of their son's/daughter's present school must be informed.

Step 2: Sixth Form Entrance Examinations and a House interview.

These are held in early November of the year preceding entry. A number of candidates will be invited to return to the School for Scholarship interviews. Overseas candidates are also required to come to Rugby for the 16+ Examination and interviews in the November preceding entry.

Step 3: Pass GCSEs or equivalent

Offers of places at 16+ are conditional upon a candidate obtaining satisfactory grades at GCSE or the equivalent foreign examination. In the case of UK candidates, the minimum will be at least three 7 grades and another three 6 grades or above at GCSE. These must include English and Mathematics and the subjects chose for A Level (if applicable). Places are allocated on merit. Academic attainment and potential are considered along with the contribution that boys and girls can make to extra-curricular activities.

Girls’ entry: The majority of new Year 12 places are available in Stanley House, but a limited number of places may become available in the other girls' boarding Houses and day House.

Boys’ entry: There are always a number of places in Year 12 for new boys (boarders and day).

For both boys and girls entry we will be pleased to consider later applications.  Such candidates should complete the Waiting List Registration Form and will be considered for places should they become available.
