Foundation Awards for Day Pupils
Several Foundation Awards are made each year to day boy and day girl applicants for entry at 13+ and 16+. All candidates for Foundation Awards must live within a radius of 10 miles from the Rugby Clock Tower – excluding the city of Coventry. Parents or legal guardians of pupils who are awarded a Foundation Award may elect to accept a 10 per cent fee concession. The level of support provided can be augmented up to 100% of the day fees subject to means assessment; a Confidential Statement of Financial Circumstances must be completed and should be submitted to the Bursar before the examination closing date.
FOUNDATION AWARDS AT 11+ FOR DEFERRED ENTRY TO YEAR 9
These Awards qualify for deferred entrance to Town House (boys) and Southfield (girls) for entry in Year 9. Candidates must presently be at a maintained school, or an independent school that finishes at 11+. Awards made at 11+ continue into the Upper School. The 11+ examination takes place at Rugby School in the January of Year 6.
FOUNDATION AWARDS AT 13+ (YEAR 9)
These Awards qualify exclusively for entrance to Town House (boys) and Southfield (girls). The examination takes place in early February of Year 8. The examination takes place simultaneously with the Academic Scholarship in February. Eligible candidates may sit for both awards. Pupils currently in Marshall House may compete for a Foundation Award a second time.
FOUNDATION AWARDS AT 16+ (YEAR 12)
These Awards qualify exclusively for entrance to Town House (boys) and Southfield (girls). Awards will be based on the standard assessment process for 16+ entry together with subject based interviews.
