RUGBY SCHOOL ARTS FESTIVAL
The Rugby School Arts Festival is held each year in the final week of the Trinity Term.

Huge numbers of pupils and staff put themselves forward to take part and all pupils and parents are invited to select the events they wish to see over the three-day festival.

A wide variety of music, drama and workshop events take place and the School’s traditional spaces create ideal performance venues. Plays and musicals are always a highlight with several main events written and produced by the pupils themselves.

Drama highlights of the 2016 festival included:

  • Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors
  • William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily a New Hope.
  • Pupil-directed Dorothy’s Adventures in Oz performed open air on the Close, complete with a 'real' Toto
  • Poetic Troubadours on the Close featuring the School's world famous tenor, James Oxley, singing songs in Medieval troubadour fashion accompanied by poetry readings
  • Pupil-directed Landing in Love: Three Girls and One Guy, up in the Sky!
  • Thought-provoking Spring Awakening performed in the Macready Foyer

Musical highlights featured:

  • Percussion Concert in the majestic Temple Speech Room
  • Brahms Trio in the contemplative Memorial Chapel
  • A concert by the renowned vocal group Voces8
  • Concerto, Peter & the Wolf

Workshops in 2016 included:

  • Stomp
  • Modern Jive
  • Stilt-making
  • Tea Tasting
  • Flower Power
  • T'ai Chi

The Lewis Gallery hosts art work by staff and scholars and the Science Block's splendid Atrium is the platform for many different activities. RSC workshops have taken place here as well as various dance workshops, and it’s also where non-music teaching staff share their musical talents - enter the ever popular band, Rockage!

A grand finale brings the Arts Festival to a close when the whole School comes together in the Temple Speech Room for a night of festival awards, music and performance.
