Hockey is the major game for girls in the Advent Term and for boys in the Lent Term.
The School regularly fields 18 teams for the girls and 14 teams for the boys and every pupil who wishes to play hockey will represent the School in matches against other schools on a regular basis. There is also a programme of inter-house events for both boys and girls.
The standard of hockey at School is very high with the boys and girls teams both regularly winning county titles and moving on into regional final and national stages. In recent years we are fortunate to have had a string of top class hockey coaches with names including David Ames (GB), Sophie Robinson (England), Ollie Willars (GB and England) and Sabbie Heesh (England). Every pupil who takes part in hockey will have contact with these coaches on a weekly basis. The current hockey development officer is Matt Taylor, founder of MT13 and coach of Beeston Hockey Club. This link with Matt has enabled us to set up a weekly Beeston Hockey Club Satellite Academy to develop our strongest hockey players in the School. This has helped to provide a club hockey atmosphere which has enabled many of our pupils to gain JAC, JRPC and HiPac representative honours.
We offer a number of coaching facilities, including one-to-one training, video analysis, strength and conditioning and specific skills session to support our players. The School has also invested in two, top class synthetic turf pitches and provides an excellent infrastructure, which enables us host a number of tournaments throughout the year.
