Hong Kong Global Pass 2017

Celebrating the 450th Anniversary of Rugby School, the Global Pass recently landed in Hong Kong.  Inspired by the journey of the Olympic Torch around the world, ‘The Global Pass’ is the brainchild of Rugbeians, Toby Marsh (SH 88-93) and Matthew Hodder-Williams (SH 88-93) as a way of involving Rugbeians across the world with this milestone anniversary.  Take a look at the Hong Kong passes here.

Over a week of special events and opportunities were organised around the passing of the Global Pass ball, including a pass over the Harbour in a helicopter, one at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, during the Hong Kong Rugby 7s tournament and many other fabulous and iconic Hong Kong locations.  Hong Kong Rugbeians and friends of the School have certainly set the bar high for the remaining six months of the Global Pass journey.  In total 54 Rugbeians were officially involved in this stage of the passing with many more joining in at events.  Huge thanks go to Paddy Smyth (SF 81-83) who energetically took on the role as the Regional Co-ordinator.  Of course, sights have already been set on the 200th Anniversary of William Webb Ellis’ ‘fine disregard’ in 2023, so watch this space!

You can see photos from all the passes and keep up to date with the latest news on both the School’s facebook page and the Global Pass website.
