Sixth Form *IB option from 2021*
Sixth Form students at Rugby School are encouraged and supported to go beyond their best, to try something new, to take advantage of the many great opportunities and use these final two years at one of the UK’s top independent schools as an inspirational launch pad.
“Rugby School has been so much more than a school to me. The academic experience here is an extraordinary combination of dedicated teachers, an atmosphere of support and motivation and an aim for every student to achieve their academic and personal best” - Sixth Form student
ACADEMIC AND SUBJECTS
Join our thriving Upper School, choose from an excellent range of subject choices with the knowledge there will be individual support from teachers dedicated to providing the tools best suited to help each and every student challenge themselves and flourish. Our curriculum currently offers A-Levels, but students joining from 2021 will also have the option of following the International Baccalaureate Programme.
Students opting for the International Baccalaureate curriculum must select three subjects at Higher Level and three at Standard Level. This option allows students to develop breadth of academic learning as well as depth. Students wishing to study the A-Level curriculum must choose three subjects only (although Further Mathematics may be chosen as a fourth subject). This option allows for specialisation and focus. Our academic leadership team offer the option of personalised advice about the choice of Sixth Form curriculum and subjects for any student who joins our Upper School.
SIXTH FORM CENTRE
Rugby Sixth Formers enjoy the School’s Collingwood Centre – a dedicated Sixth Form facility centred on an impressive three-storey, Pugin-style building.
Only Sixth Form subjects are taught here including Economics, Business Studies, Politics, PE and Philosophy. A scaled-down House of Commons, complete with green leather seats, brings politics to life, while the modern, comfortable common room is a privilege for Upper School only creating more of a ‘university’ atmosphere.
“Rugby school teaches lessons beyond the classroom, and equips every pupil with responsibility, curiosity to learn and to challenge themselves but also to cherish their personal achievement” - Sixth Form student
