Around 70% of our leavers progress to Russell Group universities each year, with between 10 and 20 securing places at Oxford or Cambridge.
We offer dedicated Oxbridge support through our Oxbridge Admissions department. Led by two experienced Heads, the department provides clear guidance on the application process and the academic expectations of Oxford and Cambridge, including their earlier deadlines.
International progression continues to grow. This year we have students holding offers from a range of North American universities including Columbia, North-western University and the University of Southern California; McGill and University of Toronto in Canada; and IE and Bocconi in Europe.
We are seeing increased interest in degree apprenticeships. Students are weighing up the value of the additional work experience that a degree apprenticeship offers and the benefits that this brings to their CV.
We are developing this to bring it in line with the specialist pathways of support we already offer for international university, medicine and Oxbridge pathways. We have introduced a parent information session which was well attended this year.

Recent leavers
Freddie Sparke (T 18-23), Harvard University
Former music scholar, Freddie, is currently studying at Harvard University, where the liberal arts and sciences programme offers a degree allowing him to pursue multiple interests alongside music. Freddie has also been selected to be part of the Harvard Krokodiloes, Harvard’s oldest a cappella group.
Sofiia Yarytska (S 23-25), Princeton University
Sofiia achieved an outstanding score of 44 out of 45 in the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, which secured her place at Princeton University.
Gabe Downes (SH 20-25), Duke University
Gabe left Rugby School in the summer of 2025 after achieving outstanding A level results of A*AA in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. A former member of School House, he is now studying Economics and Statistics at Duke University in the United States.

Our exam results
We are proud of our students’ examination results and are pleased to publish them. However, we do not authorise the publication of our results in media-driven league tables.
League tables do not show stories of personal progress and success. Nor do they measure the benefits that Music, Sport, Drama, Service and numerous other activities bring to an all-round education.
