Eligibility
Rugby School has an extensive programme of means-tested financial support for students (for entry at 13 and at 16) whose families may not be in a position to afford our full fees. These are bespoke programmes and you should apply as early as possible to see if your child is eligible. There are currently 150 students at Rugby School on means-tested bursaries.
Our financial support for students and their families does not come from fee income but from donors’ generosity and our investments. Our annual investment is around £6.8 million.
Options for fee support
The Arnold Foundation Award
The Arnold Foundation Award provides fully-funded boarding places for children who are likely to thrive as boarders at Rugby, both academically and in co-curricular life, and whose parents/guardians are assessed as being eligible for substantial support. We currently have 30 Arnold Foundation students at Rugby School.
The Foundation Award
This is a means-tested award to fund day places for children who live within 20 miles of Rugby School.
There are currently 66 students at Rugby on a Foundation Award.
Scholarships
Being awarded a scholarship to attend Rugby School is an honour in recognition of a child’s excellence in a particular area. If a scholarship is awarded, school fees, including the cost of boarding, may be covered by a means-tested bursary of up to 100%. Currently, there are 323 Scholars at Rugby.
Head Master's discretionary awards
Exceptional awards are also available at the Head Master’s discretion, where we identify exceptional potential in an applicant.
