Experiences outside school
Field trips, subject-specific overseas visits, residential creative writing courses and expeditions (eg The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – DofE – which has keen participation across the School) take place for all year groups.
Linguists have homestays in the countries whose languages they are studying.
There are also overseas sports fixtures – tennis in Cyprus, netball and hockey in Spain, skiing in Switzerland and Canada, cricket in Dubai, rugby, hocky and netball in South Africa.
At the end of each summer term, a group of Year 9 students from Rugby School in the UK spend two weeks at either Rugby School Thailand or Rugby School Japan, and students from both those schools come to Rugby School in England, both groups accompanied by members of staff. These exchanges foster an appreciation of other cultures for both schools’ students and staff, and a number of cross-school academic projects have emerged from the visits.
