Visit Rugby School

Even the most polished prospectus or website can only offer a partial view of a school. We strongly encourage families to visit in person, ideally with your child.

A visit allows you to experience the atmosphere at first hand: to see the school in action, to meet members of staff and students, and to gain a clear sense of daily life. It is also an opportunity to ask questions and to consider how the school will support your child’s academic progress and wider development.

We host about 10 Open Days throughout the year, each dedicated to our two main points of entry (13+ and 16+).

If you cannot attend one of our Open Days, our Admissions team will be happy to arrange an individual tour.

What to expect at an Open Day

01. Head's Welcome

An Open Day starts in the Temple Speech Room, in the middle of the School campus, with a welcome from our Head Master, Gareth Parker-Jones, and Laura Bursey Faulkner, our Deputy Head (Admissions & Marketing). They will explain the Rugby School ethos and how it works in practice.

You will also hear talks from current students about their experience of life at Rugby, and have a chance to chat to members of our academic and co-curricular staff.

02. Student tours

Our students will take you on a tour of the school, visiting departments and looking around a couple of Houses. The tours can be tailored at your request, so please do ask your tour guides to show you any specific areas of the School.

03. Lunch

All Open Days include lunch, which gives you a sense of what life is like at Rugby School and gives you an informal opportunity to chat with our Housemasters and Housemistresses and Academic Staff.

Individual Visits

If you are unable to attend one of our Open Days, we will be pleased to arrange a personal visit to suit you.

Please email visits@rugbyschool.net to arrange a suitable date and time.

An individual visit will cover everything that you would experience on an Open Day, including:

  • A tour of the School and a couple of Houses
  • Meeting key Admissions staff
  • Lunch in a House
  • An informal opportunity to chat with our Housemasters, Housemistresses and academic staff.
