Welcome to the Rugby School Day House experience.
For parents and students living near enough, our Day Houses offer the best of both worlds - the breadth and depth of the Rugby boarding ethos and experience with the flexibility of returning home every day.
Our Day Houses open at 7.00am and do not close until 10.00pm, offering time and space in the day to make the very most of all the opportunities on offer, from
academic enrichment sessions to a huge range of co-curricular options and social events.
We also run a morning mini-bus collection service to offer increased flexibility for parents.
Our Day Houses
Our two Day Houses – Town for boys and Southfield for girls – sit side by side around a shared landscaped courtyard. The purpose-built complex offers an exceptional environment for our Day students.
There are study areas for every student, spacious common rooms for relaxing, wonderfully equipped kitchens and bathrooms, as much storage space as any sportsperson could possibly need, tutor rooms, garden and play areas, as well as two statement dining-rooms each seating 150. As a bonus, our location means both Houses are just steps away from the Sports Centre, with its 25m pool, Astros, squash courts and more.
Exactly the same levels of pastoral care, tutoring, mentoring and the nurturing of individual talents are to be found in the Day Houses as in the Boarding Houses. There are three matrons in each House, a full team of tutors and access to the San team too whenever required.
Busy parents can rest assured that we keep track of every student every day until they have signed out and all medical matters, like vaccinations and prescriptions, are firmly in hand. We genuinely care for the individual and student welfare is our primary focus.
Making the most of the day.
Our Day Houses are open from 7.00am from Monday to Saturday, with the students signing in by 8.10am.
Early starters can enjoy breakfast before starting on a busy timetable of lessons
and sport, with everyone returning to House at break for toast. It is then back to the timetable before returning to share lunch with the whole House, including all the tutors, giving time for a catch-up and a check on student wellbeing.
Afternoons could be sport, community service or lessons, depending on year group, with tea provided for all who have evening activities planned. Supervised prep time is arranged for the younger years while mixed socials, often with a theme, happen on most Saturday evenings.
Day students follow the same timetable as boarders, with lessons on Saturday mornings followed by an afternoon of sport.
The Houses will also open on Sundays if weekend events are planned.
