Application information
The closing date for application forms and bursary augmentation is Friday 29 January 2027.
The assessment will take place on Friday 5 March 2027.
If a Design and Technology Scholarship is awarded, the pupil will be required to study Design & Technology at GCSE and would be good candidate to study Design at A Level or IB Diploma.
- Candidates will take part in a simple practical exercise that will be set in the Rugby School Design Centre.
- Candidates will also be required to sit a written D & T paper. This will be a paper of one hour. There will be no questions specifically involving food.
- In addition there will be a review and discussion of the candidate’s portfolio lasting about 20 minutes. We would like to see complete tasks but, if this is not possible, appropriate photography. Any relevant artwork, design briefs or CAD records should also be brought.
- Candidates from overseas or who attend schools that do not prepare for Common Entrance will be required to sit our entrance tests in English, Maths and Reasoning prior to the assessment day.
Award and Augmentation
There is no fee remission for successful scholarship awards. However, if a scholarship is awarded, fees may be augmented by means-tested bursary support of up to 100% of boarding or day fees for UK residents.
Please note that applicants must first register their application with the School. The bursary application form will then be sent directly to you, and bursary applications must be completed and submitted by the scholarship application deadline.
Applications submitted after this date may not be assessed until after scholarship assessment results have been released. In such cases, it will be at the School's discretion whether a place is held while you await an outcome.
