Assessment date: Friday 5 March 2027
If a Design and Technology Scholarship is awarded, the pupil will be required to study Design & Technology at GCSE and would be good candidate to study Design at A Level or IB Diploma.
- Candidates will take part in a simple practical exercise that will be set in the Rugby School Design Centre.
- Candidates will also be required to sit a written D & T paper. This will be a paper of one hour. There will be no questions specifically involving food.
- In addition there will be a review and discussion of the candidate’s portfolio lasting about 20 minutes. We would like to see complete tasks but, if this is not possible, appropriate photography. Any relevant artwork, design briefs or CAD records should also be brought.
- Candidates from overseas or who attend schools that do not prepare for Common Entrance will be required to sit our entrance tests in English, Maths and Reasoning prior to the assessment day.
Award and Augmentation
If a scholarship is awarded, fees may be augmented by means-tested bursary support up to 100% of the boarding or day fees.

the School and the Registration Fee (if applicable) paid in full. Applications submitted after the closing date may not be assessed until after the result of a scholarship application is known.
