Awards will be made to candidates who demonstrate outstanding performance or potential in at least one of our core team sports:
- Rugby Football (boys and girls)
- Hockey (boys and girls)
- Netball (girls only)
- Cricket (boys and girls)
- Tennis (boys and girls)
Candidates must be competing in sport deemed higher than school level and aspire to remain on pathways throughout the Sixth Form alongside representing Rugby School, for example:
- Rugby Football (County, DPP and/or academy)
- Hockey (County and/or Talent Academy)
- Netball (County and/or Super league academies)
- Cricket (County age group and / or EPP or academy)
- Tennis (County)
Or the equivalent in the current residing country.
Applications must identify at least two referees for Rugby School to contact.
A report will also be requested from the Head of the candidate’s current school to establish that the boys and girls will also flourish academically at Rugby.
Candidates will be expected to take part in a practical assessment and online Interview. For UK based candidates, practical assessments will take place on Tuesday 13 October 2026 from 11.00 p.m. – 5.00 p.m. Interviews will take place online with the Director of Sport prior to practical assessments at a mutually convenient time. For Overseas candidates we will make individual arrangements.
Boys and girls will take part in activities designed to establish their intrinsic motivation to be a sports scholar, athletic ability, decision making under pressure, and potential to respond to coaching as well as having the opportunity to demonstrate basic and advanced skills consistently in one or more specific sports. We reserve the right to recall candidates for further assessment.
Candidates will be required to take the Sixth Form Entrance Examinations on Tuesday 3 November or Thursday 5 November 2026.
Candidates should give dates of club or representative matches between now and December 2026 so that they can be observed in match conditions if required.
