About the House
Bradley is situated in the heart of the School, overlooking the Science Schools and Design Centre.
Bradley House is built around a quad which is used by all years as an area for relaxation, hosting visitors and, during the summer term, for outside dining. Accessed from the quad is a library enjoyed by the Bradley girls for quiet study, music practice, movie nights and social gatherings, and more widely for society meetings. The back garden is extensive and is always available to the Bradley girls with garden games particularly popular in the summer.
There is a large communal common room at the back of the House with a well-equipped kitchen, a pool table and a piano. This space is also used for social events. In addition, each year-group has a common room and there is a small gym.
The girls are well integrated and there is a strong system of support between and amongst the year groups. There is a Family Group system, where one girl from each year group makes up a ‘family’ of five. Families eat together each week and also go into town together on occasion.
Caroline Dow, Housemistress
Caroline Dow gained a BA (Hons) in Geography from Sheffield University, followed by a PGCE from Oxford University (Keble College) and then began her teaching career in 2000 at the Dragon School in Oxford. Whilst at the Dragon, Caroline taught Geography and was Head of Girls’ Summer Sports and latterly Housemother in a boys’ boarding house for ten years. She then moved to Spratton Hall where she was Head of Geography.
Caroline joined Rugby School in 2022 as Housemistress of Bradley House. At Rugby she also teaches Geography and coaches sport.
She loves running, reading and photography, and alongside her husband and three children, as a family they enjoy holidaying in Norfolk, going for long walks and playing sport, especially hockey and cricket.
