Philosophy and Theology Students meet Dr Peter Vardy

Two groups of Philosophy and Theology students made the trip to London before the break for a revision conference led by Dr Peter Vardy, a respected philosopher, former Vice-Principal of Heythrop College, London and renowned conference speaker.

The XX were treated to their second experience of Dr Vardy’s packed slides, fast-paced delivery and impressive synthesis of key ideas, this year on ‘Faith and Reason’ addressing many ideas in our Philosophy of Religion course. Dr Vardy also took time to share some personal ‘life advice’ with a few members of the group after the lectures in his own engaging way.

On Friday the LXX had their first encounter with the Dr Vardy lecture day, including the standard two-hour lecture to get us going. Their theme was Human Nature and a range of approaches to ‘good’ and ethical systems to guide humanity were covered linking to content studied this year.

Both groups were great company, attentive audience members and absorbed much from these high-level university-style lectures that will be useful for the examinations next term.
