Rugby School Cadets Showcase Skills at Annual CCF Inspection

Wednesday marked the annual Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Inspection at Rugby School, a highlight of the year for the 180 cadets who make up the Royal Marines, Army, and Royal Air Force sections.

Formed in 1860, the Rugby School CCF continues to thrive, offering pupils the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities including fieldcraft, marksmanship, adventurous training and leadership instruction.

This year’s Inspection began with the First Parade on the Porridge, followed by the Military Skills Competition on the Close. Cadets took part in a series of tests designed to challenge and showcase the skills they have developed throughout the year. Events included drill, observation, first aid, laser clay shooting, map reading, and leadership exercises.

In the afternoon, the Contingent gathered at the James Pavilion for a group photograph, followed by a number of well-deserved promotions and presentations to recognise exceptional commitment and achievement.

Awards included:

  • Best Shot – Cadet Peter Parker (Sh)

  • The Honourable Artillery Company Sword for the best LXX cadet – Cadet Sgt Max Osiatynski (T)

  • The Rugby School Sword of Honour for the best XX cadet – Cadet Colour Sergeant Eddie Groves (T)

  • Promotion to Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major – Max Osiatynski (T)

The annual Inspection not only provides an opportunity to assess the progress of the Contingent and showcase it to the Inspecting Officer, but also serves as a celebration of the commitment, skill, and leadership demonstrated by Rugby School’s cadets throughout the year.

Well done to all involved.
