Two hundred years ago, women did not play rugby. The Close was a boys-only ground.  Come and watch the England Rugby U18 women’s team play their first international  match of the season against the Wales U18 women’s side at the birthplace of the game.

Gates open at midday, kick-off 13:00

Fundraising

The day will be to raise awareness and funds for two fantastic charities:

The RFU Injured Players Foundation provides support and information to rugby players in England who sustain a catastrophic spinal cord injury or traumatic brain injury playing the game, and help prevent future injuries through vital research.

Rugby School’s 1823 bursary fund is in honour of Webb Ellis who was a bursary student. The bursary will offer means-tested places at Rugby School for boys or girls who show significant promise and aptitude for sport and a commitment to Rugby Football, with up to 100% of fees and essential extras available.
