Current Rugby School student, Sammy, Finalist in Northern Regional Finals for National Youth Monologue
Huge congratulations to Sammy for reaching the Northern Regional Final of the National Youth Monologue, which will take place on 17 May, having been selected from over 4,000 applicants. On the day, he will perform a classical piece.
Sammy commented:
“I have loved acting for as long as I can remember, and being able to demonstrate my talent and share my passion with others is incredibly fulfilling. When I entered this competition, I wasn’t sure what might come of it, but reaching the regional final has shown me that I have much to offer. Should I progress beyond this stage, I will compete in the National Final for the title of Best National Youth Monologue. Wish me luck!”
In addition, Rugby School has been nominated for the Methuen Drama School & Group Prize. The National Youth Monologues commented: “This nomination recognises the quality of work being produced by your students and is a significant achievement. We are very pleased to recognise your contribution.”
This recognition reflects the wider success of our students, with a number of commendations and other awards across the competition.
We are proud to celebrate the following students, all of whom were commended:
Scarlett G. – Contemporary Monologues
Otto L.B. – Contemporary Monologues
Erin M. – Contemporary Monologues
Dan F. – Contemporary Monologues
Rosanna N. – Contemporary Monologues
Alfie T. – Contemporary Monologues
Stevie W. – Original Monologue
The Commended category recognises performances that stood out to the judges and were selected from a highly competitive field, placing these students within approximately the top 15–25% of all entries.
Harnek S. also impressed the judges and has been placed on the Reserve List for the finals. This recognises a small number of performances that came very close to selection for the Regional Finals. Chosen from a highly competitive field, these performers demonstrated an exceptional standard of work and are next in line should a finalist place become available.
