Current student Thatcher publishes paper in peer-reviewed journal Convergence
Current Rugby School student Thatcher has recently had his paper, “A Fifth Fundamental Force? A Comparative Review Between ΛCDM and Quintessence,” published in the peer-reviewed journal Convergence.
Thatcher completed his research over an eight-week period, working closely with university professors to explore concepts in astronomy and general relativity – a subject he has long been passionate about. In addition to his academic interests, Thatcher is also a talented Music Scholar at Rugby and frequently performs in musical events.
In his paper, Thatcher critiques current dark energy models and evaluates data collected by other researchers. He reflected that he learned extensively throughout the process and, with the support of Rugby School, was able to refine both his time-management and research skills.
Thatcher commented, “I enjoyed chatting with the experts about physics,” and noted, “It was exciting to share my passion with them and learn from the best.”
Thatcher explained that Rugby supported him through its Academic Scholars Programme, which requires students in E and D Block to read scholarly work and produce their own articles each term, guided by teachers.
