Re-enactment of the game & two Legend’s matches
In 1823 William Webb Ellis “took the ball in his arms and ran with it” on The Close at Rugby School. This, and subsequent events, has resulted in the game of “football” being named “rugby football”.
Enjoy an afternoon on The Close watching that moment being replayed followed by two spectacular games of rugby from men’s and women’s teams, made up of vets and legends from rugby nations, Wooden Spoon National Vets and Rugby School Staff.
The men’s and women’s teams will include and be captained by Wooden Spoon Ambassadors and rugby legends.
Already confirmed are: Tamara Taylor, Gill Burns and Lee Mears.
