Jack featured in the Independent School’s Guide
We’re proud to share that current student Jack has been featured in this season’s edition of The Independent School’s Guide.
As an Organ Scholar at Rugby School, Jack speaks passionately in the article about the unique power of the organ:
“There’s something quite powerful about the organ as an instrument in terms of its sheer size and sound.’ It generates an amazing power in a building and everyone can hear it.”
The feature, which explores the organ as the ‘king of instruments,’ highlights the exceptional opportunities available to organ scholars at Rugby School. These include solo and accompaniment lessons, masterclasses, and access to a wide range of programmes offered by organisations such as the Royal College of Organists.
Within the article, Rebecca Taylor, Director of Music, also shares her insights on the broader benefits of organ playing, explaining that it teaches resilience, dedication and discipline. She reflects on the central role of the organ in school life.
“The sound of the organ is something we hear all the time at Rugby, thanks to the Chapel. It’s a living, breathing part of the school.”
