Oscar signs with Leicester Tigers Senior Academy
We are proud to share the news that Rugby School student Oscar has signed a professional contract with the Leicester Tigers Senior Academy.
Oscar has been part of the Leicester Tigers set-up since the Under-14 age group and has consistently demonstrated his value to the squad. He was selected for the Academy League U18 team while still an U16. A testament to his ability, maturity, and potential. This season, he has continued to represent the club in both the Academy League and Development XV, leading to his well-deserved place in the Senior Academy.
Oscar joined Rugby School as a Sports Scholar in the F Block and has captained teams at every stage of our junior rugby programme, balancing his club commitments with School representation throughout. His progression through our elite sporting pathway is a model of what can be achieved through talent, commitment, and consistency.
As part of the School’s Sports Scholars programme, Oscar has made full use of the provision available:
– One-to-one mentoring
– Strength and conditioning
– Skills development sessions
Oscar is also well known across the School for his dedication to practice and is frequently spotted on The Close, refining his passing and kicking, often long after formal training sessions have ended.
Debbie Skene, Director of Sport, commented:
“We are extremely proud of Oscar’s achievements so far, which are a testament to his unrivalled dedication and commitment to training. Oscar has an admirable work ethic, and it is this unrelenting passion for the game and desire to be the best which will see him continue to progress and achieve his ambitions.”
During last year’s summer break, Oscar had been in South Africa, representing Leicester Tigers in an international tournament. He started several matches, including one against France, which our teams were fortunate to attend as part of their rugby tour.
Oscar is playing this evening at Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium starting at fly-half against England U20s at 7:30pm, we wish him the best of luck.
