Rugby School Hanoi to open in September 2026

Rugby School Group is pleased to announce its intention to open a new co-educational school in Vietnam, initially with a pre-prep facility in Hanoi in September 2026, followed by prep and senior provision in 2027. It will deliver Rugby’s Whole Person Whole Point ethos across every aspect of school life, providing an education that develops students’ intellect, character and imagination, and encouraging leadership development.

This project is being delivered in partnership with Khai Sang Corporation, a respected education investor in Vietnam led by Mr. Tuyen Nguyen. With five schools already in operation, Khai Sang will establish its first capital‑based school at Rugby School Hanoi, located in Ciputra near Hanoi’s iconic West Lake.

Rugby School Hanoi will be the ninth school in Rugby School Group, joining Rugby School Thailand, Rugby School Japan, Rugby School Nigeria and Rugby School Dubai, in addition to our three prep schools in the United Kingdom. Rugby School itself was founded in 1567 and is one of the leading schools in the United Kingdom, a top boarding and day school which has been at the forefront of key developments in British education for generations, as well as inventing the internationally successful sport of rugby, and influencing the development of the Olympic Games.

Dr Neil Hampton, CEO of Rugby School Global, said: “We are delighted to be opening a school in Hanoi, a city of impressive energy and cultural depth, and to be partnering with the Khai Sang Corporation. Our joint ambition is to cultivate young people of character, integrity and compassion, preparing them not only for academic distinction but for lives of meaning, responsibility and service in Vietnam and the wider world.”

Mr Tuyen Nguyen, Chairman of the Board and the co-founder of Khai Sang Corporation, commented: “Having Rugby School in Vietnam is a privilege. We believe that Rugby’s long history, strong tradition and proven excellence would not only add on to Hanoi’s infrastructure another great K12 education provider, but also bring in an opportunity for Hanoi’s residents access to the super-premium school model.”

Rugby School Hanoi will be providing the distinctive features of Rugby School: its challenging academic programme; its strong support network for students; and its commitment to a wide range of co-curricular activities (including sport, music and performing arts).

Nick Bacon, Chair of Rugby School Group Governing Body, commented: “We are honoured to be working in Vietnam, a country with a vibrant cultural and educational tradition. We seek to support educational development both in Hanoi and in the country as a whole.”
