Rugby School wins Canada Challenge Cup

Rugby School’s ski team has returned from an exceptional week in Canada, competing in the Canada Challenge Cup, part of a wider inter-school racing festival traditionally held in Jasper, Alberta. This event brings together leading schools for a series of races including dual slalom, slalom and giant slalom, alongside professional coaching and a gala dinner and prize-giving ceremony.

Our students spent eight days in ski school with three days of competitive racing, supported by expert instructors. Conditions were outstanding, with over 50cm of fresh powder, and the team made significant progress both on piste and off piste.

Individual Successes:

Grand Slalom Girls Open: Gold – Lexie M
Grand Slalom Boys U16: Bronze – Joss S
Grand Slalom Boys Open: Silver – Edmund H
Slalom Girls Open: Gold – Lexie Manley; Bronze – Flo M
Slalom Boys U16: Gold – Joss Sadler; Bronze – Lucas D
Slalom Boys Open: Silver – Edmund H

Overall Women’s Slalom Trophy – Lexie M, Flo M & Chrystal W

Canada Cup Challenger Plate – Overall Team Winners, beating Harrow, Marlborough, Dulwich, Benenden, Westminster, Aiglon and Nord Anglia schools from Boston, Houston and Brazil

Beyond the competition, students enjoyed evening excursions to the planetarium, an ice hockey match, snowshoeing, s’more making and local dining. Their behaviour throughout was exemplary, and they were true ambassadors for Rugby School.
