Rugby Student Success in British Math Olympiad
Rugby XX student Nanako Ueda has scored a distinction in The British Mathematical Olympiad (BMO). The competition has two rounds, the BMO1 and the BMO2. Nanako’s score not only gained her entry to BMO2 but also led to her being invited to a UK training camp – one of 20 students to be invited nationally.
The competition is organised by the UK Maths Trust. BMO1 and BMO2 are also preliminary rounds for International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO). BMO1 is a 3 ½ hours examination requiring students to solve 6 problems.
” It is great that UKMT (UK Maths Trust) organises many opportunities for the students to get in touch with other top-level students, motivate them and improve their skills” said Nanako
Nick Jones Head of Mathematics described Nanako’s success as “an amazing achievement!” and recommended that she be recognised with a Copy which has been awarded by Head Master Gareth Parker Jones.
