Sports Day 2026

Today, on the penultimate day of the academic year, we held our annual Sports Day at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Athletics Track.

The day always promises to be a highlight of the School calendar, and this year was no different as the spirit of Rugby School came alive through House pride, resilience, collaboration and athletic excellence.

Students took part in a range of track and field events. Track events included a variety of sprint and middle-distance races, hurdles and relays, whilst field events included jumping (high jump, long jump and triple jump), javelin and discus. With a healthy competitive spirit, students earned points for both performance and participation as Houses competed to claim age-group trophies and to be crowned overall House champions.

The final event of the day was the unique and eagerly anticipated Head Master’s Invitational, which sees the fastest students in the School – selected purely on ability rather than age – go head to head. This year, the girls’ winner was Mollie from Rupert Brooke and the boys’ winner was Rafa from Sheriff.
