Girls and boys are invited to combine their passion and talent for singing with an outstanding education at Bilton Grange Preparatory School as part of an exciting chorister programme, The Rugby Choristers at Bilton Grange.

This programme gives children the opportunity to become part of both combined and separate chorister teams of boys and girls from year groups 3 to 8.

Children from all backgrounds can access musical training alongside a world-class education and, unlike cathedral chorister programmes, it does not involve weekends.

Alongside Bilton Grange’s full academic and co-curricular provision, the choristers benefit from high level training, including instrumental studies, music theory, aural and vocal coaching.

Their schedule comprises a daily morning rehearsal plus a service of Choral Evensong in either Bilton Grange’s or Rugby School’s Chapels on four afternoons a week. Choristers can also expect to take part in regular concerts, tours, recordings and broadcasts.

Rugby School, which many Bilton Grange pupils progress to for their senior schooling, has an extensive instrumental music provision and a strong choral programme, with Chapel services at its heart.

Choristerships are open to both day pupils and boarders with a variety of boarding options: full, flexi and weekly. Choristers receive a fee remission which can be augmented by bursary support of up to 100 per cent of the boarding or day fees, subject to means assessment. They also receive free tuition on two instruments.

We hold a Chorister Experience Day in November followed by a Voice Trial Workshop in December to enable children to explore the life of a chorister. Voice Trials take place in January, but we are happy to consider potential choristers at other times of the year.
